Delhi parents are rushing to Gurgaon to secure seat....?

As nursery admission in Delhi schools have not started, a number of parents are rushing to Gurgaon to secure a seat for their little ones. Some parents said Gurgaon schools offer more choice, both in terms of curriculum and infrastructure.
While admission process in Gurgaon schools started on August 1, Delhi schools will open their counters only be the end of the year.
“Delhi schools offer fewer seats and the admission process is comparatively tough. But in Gurgaon, the scenario is the opposite. Also, most schools provide bus services to Delhi and so admitting my child in another city is not a problem,” Latika Pant of Green Park in New Delhi, said.
Schools such as Delhi Public School (Sector 45), DPS (Sushant Lok), The HDFC School, Suncity World School, Amity International School, Millennium School, Ridge Valley School, Vega Schools, Lotus Valley International School, Scottish High International School and KR Mangalam School have already started their admission process. Others are likely to follow suit by the end of the month.
Parents also said Gurgaon schools are affiliated to different educational boards, including CBSE, Cambridge IGCSE, ICSE and International Baccalaureate (IB), giving them more choice.
Jasmine Joy of Aya Nagar said, “My husband and I have studied in schools affiliated to ICSE and we want our child to study under the same board. Gurgaon has maximum number of schools in Delhi-NCR with the same board.”
“The better schools around my home are on the other side of the border, in Gurgaon. I do not want my child to compromise on her development and education. Plus, most of the schools are offering at least 100 seats, giving more chance to my daughter,” Manju Pande of Kapashera said.
Authorities of Gurgaon schools said they are getting more application and enquiries from Delhi this year.
Avishek Roy, head, community outreach, Vega Schools, said, “A lot of parents, especially from south Delhi localities such as Chhatarpur, Aya Nagar and Saket, are enquiring about the school. We are a new establishment and a lot of queries are coming forward from word-of-mouth.”
Peeya Sharma, principal of Ryan International School, Sector 40, said even last year the school received 100 applications from Delhi. “There are a number of reasons for parents to apply here. The most important is early admissions and more seats. We are expecting a similar or higher number of requests this year too.”
Though most institutions are welcoming parents from Delhi, a few schools are also denying their requests.
“Parents from Delhi are coming to the school daily to take or submit forms as the admission process is considerably easy in Gurgaon. But, we are not accepting the requests as the school is not providing transport facility to Delhi and giving the children admission would compromise with their security,” Anita Makkar, principal, The HDFC School in Sector 57, said.

Woman Arrested in Delhi Nursery Admission Racket

Police have arrested the daughter of the alleged kingpin of a scam related to nursery schools in Delhi, who was caught posing as the mother of a child and forged documents to secure an admission at Springdales School in Dhaula Kuan.

The arrest brings the police one step closer to unravelling a racket that has brought several top city schools under the scanner.

The arrested woman, a law student, is the daughter of Gurdeep Singh, who is the alleged mastermind behind the scam and is missing, Police said.

The police have brought in charges of forgery and impersonation against the woman, who is also believed to have been involved in more such admissions.

The scam surfaced last month after the head of one the groups Mukesh Sharma and three others Anil Kumar, Sudama Singh and Dharam Singh were arrested.

Police have since then busted two more groups and arrested in total nine people, leading them to believe that an organized syndicate is involved in the racket. Several school officials, parents, students, touts, principals are being probed for complicity.

The Police say there have been hundreds of such admissions in the last two years, where students are passed off as coming from economically weaker sections, and the number may go up substantially. The accused charged anything between 1 lakh and 5 lakh per admission depending on the school and the income of the parents.

Notices have been served to more than a dozen schools wherein police has sought the list of students admitted under the EWS quota and the documents furnished by them.

Well-known institutions like DPS Mathura Road, Rohini and several other DPS schools are being probed along with Bal Bharati Public School Pitampura, GD Goenka School, Modern School, Ryan International.

Ryan Internation - thinking out of the box!

When DOE is trying to streamline the admissions procedure across schools, Ryan International has taken it to the next level......

Ryan international is asking for thumb size photo graphs for nursery admissions. Passport size photograph is a norm across all schools except Ryan, so if at all you are planning to apply in Ryan, make sure you have thumb size photograph of your little one.

And bytheway...they are also asking for Family Pic! Oh my God! What the hell is going on all around............

Nursery Admission in the Schools of Delhi : Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj

Although the admissions page on school web site ( still not updated till now, the school has published an advt. in the TOI today (Dec 30 2007) stating that admissions are open for session 2008-2009 for pre-school and other classes.

As most of us would understand, other classes word is confusing and thats what school wanted - to confuse people, or rather send an indication that they have not vacancy in Nursery. Just to verify our assumption, we called school administration today afternoon and as expected the answer was that we dont have any single vacancy for Nursery and Pre-Primary for session 2008-2009.

They are so clear aobut this then why they have not published this information on their website? Probably the fear of order of Directorate of Education is high on their heads.

This is clear voilation of point#4 of order issued by DOE recently which says: "With effect from the date of coming into force of this Order, alladmissions in the pre-primary class shall be made in the mannerprovided in this Order."

जय भारत माता! जय भारत का कानून!
